Beginning Russian & Russian 1B
Beginning Russian will be a beginning course based around the book “Beginner`s Russian” which was used to teach the language at the High School. Within the first semester we will all learn to read using the Cyrillic alphabet. It is not as tough as it looks. Some people start reading within hours. We will discuss in Russian the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased.
This course will be combined with Russian 1B and continue practicing reading drills in the cyrillic alphabet. The purpose is to achieve complete fluency in reading in Cyrillic by the end of the Russian 1B course. To expand the vocabulary and basic sentence structures the "Easy Russian Reader" will be used with emphasis on story telling. At every lesson about 10-12 "survival Russian " phrases will be practiced.
***If you play the piano, we could learn a song or two in your target language and you can accompany!
This is one of the heritage languages of the area, and we are planning to add more.
