Beginning Finnish & Finnish 1B

Beginning Finish will prepare and practice simple conversations in small groups. Some basic grammar will be explained. Instructor's mother tongue is Finnish (Karelian dialect). She took the Finnish course at the Petrozavodsk State University. We will discuss in Finnish the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased.
This course will be combined with Finnish 1B an use "First Finnish Reader for Beginners" Enni Saarinen mor intensely and will incorporate the TPR story telling method into each class. This will expand your vocabulary and sentence structures necessary for communication. Each week we will practice phonics to avoid reading Finnish words using American reading rules. 1-12 "survival phrases" will be taught in every class.

***If you play the piano, we could learn a song or two in your target language and you can accompany! 

This is one of the heritage languages of the area, and we are planning to add more.
