Beginning Spanish

This introductory Spanish course will teach you basic grammar and vocabulary necessary for travel and everyday interactions in a country where Spanish is the most widely spoken foreign and heritage language. Students will learn to introduce themselves, talk about their families, occupations, and interests, and ask and answer common questions while shopping or traveling. We will also practice counting money in Spanish.

For healthcare providers and other professionals working with Spanish-speaking patients, the course will also help improve practical medical Spanish communication. Participants will build confidence using common healthcare vocabulary and basic conversational skills to support patient interactions, enhance cultural understanding, and communicate more effectively in clinical settings. This course is designed to strengthen everyday communication and is not a substitute for professional medical interpreter services when required.
