Come spend an evening luxuriating in the aloha of the islands as we look more deeply into the history, culture and spirituality of this remarkable part of America. Through fascinating pictures and stories we will explore the rich heritage and traditions that make Hawai’i one of the most beautiful, healing and life-giving places on Earth. This year our journey will take us to the lush islands of Maui and Kaua’i. Here we will drive the famous Road to Hana and visit otherworldly Haleakala Volcano National Park. We’ll tour the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” and experience Kaua’i’s mystical Na Pali Coast, all the while surrounded by the song of wintering humpback whales. In addition, we will get to meet with native kahuna shamans, experience spiritual ceremony at sacred sites, and visit the temples of many of the world’s beliefs that call Hawai’i home. For those who are interested, there will be an opportunity after the presentation to discuss the details of our 10-day spiritual tour to Hawai’i in early 2022. Exercise your memory and concentration while learning a new skill! This course is for the very beginning bridge player. Each lesson will begin with a short lecture, and then continue with playing hands related to the lecture. Learn vocabulary, suit bidding, responses to opening suit bidding, the finesse, no trump bidding, overcalls and take out doubles. We will study from an elementary bridge text by Shirley Silverman. Additional $6.00 material fee will be charged at start of class.

Beginning Finish will prepare and practice simple conversations in small groups. Some basic grammar will be explained. Instructor's mother tongue is Finnish (Karelian dialect). She took the Finnish course at the Petrozavodsk State University. We will discuss in Finnish the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased.This course will be combined with Finnish 1B an use "First Finnish Reader for Beginners" Enni Saarinen mor intensely and will incorporate the TPR story telling method into each class. This will expand your vocabulary and sentence structures necessary for communication. Each week we will practice phonics to avoid reading Finnish words using American reading rules. 1-12 "survival phrases" will be taught in every class.***If you play the piano, we could learn a song or two in your target language and you can accompany! The course will start with the vocabulary and structures common for tourist purposes. Basic grammar structures will also be taught. They will enable the students to make correct simple sentences and allow us to read and discuss easy books. The instructor lived in Germany for seven years and has a lot of first-hand cultural experience and has two Masters in methods of teaching foreign languages.This course will be combined with German 1B and will continue working along the same guidelines that have been explained during the beginning course. We will use the Book Zeit für Grammatik that the instructor successfully used in Germany teaching Ukrainian refugees. Beginning Russian will be a beginning course based around the book “Beginner`s Russian” which was used to teach the language at the High School. Within the first semester we will all learn to read using the Cyrillic alphabet. It is not as tough as it looks. Some people start reading within hours. We will discuss in Russian the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased. This course will be combined with Russian 1B and continue practicing reading drills in the cyrillic alphabet. The purpose is to achieve complete fluency in reading in Cyrillic by the end of the Russian 1B course. To expand the vocabulary and basic sentence structures the "Easy Russian Reader" will be used with emphasis on story telling. At every lesson about 10-12 "survival Russian " phrases will be practiced.***If you play the piano, we could learn a song or two in your target language and you can accompany! This is one of the heritage languages of the area, and we are planning to add more.

This introductory Spanish course will teach you basic grammar and vocabulary necessary for travel or interaction within this country, where Spanish is the most popular foreign language and heritage language. Students will be able to introduce themselves, to speak about their families, jobs, and interests. You will learn to ask questions while shopping or travelling. We will practice counting money in Spanish. The instructor Tatyana has graduate credits from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain and Universidad de Costa Rica, San Jose ***If you play the piano, we could learn a song or two in your target language and you can accompany!

Get fit! Please join us in a relaxed atmosphere to work out at your own fitness level. Bring hand weights, floor mat, a water bottle and any exercises you would like to share (if not, we have plenty to offer). We would love to have you join us! Class will be moved to locker pod area 2nd floor if cafeteria is in use.

Cloquet Community Education offers Driver’s Education for students in Cloquet (including CAAEP) and Fond du Lac only. We check to make sure students go to these schools. If you are open enrolled, you must call the Community Education office at 879-1261 to sign up. Get ready to learn how to drive! This fun class has 30 hours of classroom learning. You will learn the rules of the road and how to drive safely. You will also get 6 hours of driving practice with an instructor. You must come to all classes. You need to finish all 30 hours before you can take your permit test. After you finish the class, you will be matched with a driving instructor. You will also get your blue E-card so you can take your permit test. Join us to start learning how to drive safely and feel confident on the road! Scholarships are only available for the in-person classes. Cloquet Community Education is offering Drivers Education Scholarships to help students in need of financial assistance. These scholarships are made possible through funding provided by Carlton County Public Health and Human Services as part of the Opiate Settlement. Scholarship Details: Scholarships will cover 50% of the Drivers Education enrollment cost. Families will be responsible for the remaining $240 balance. The $240 must be paid prior to the start of the course. Scholarships are limited to three (3) students per section Scholarships are limited to Carlton County residents. Application Deadline August 15, 2026 – for the September class December 15, 2026 for the January class March 15, 2027 for the April class Please register for the specific Drivers Education Section that you want to enroll in Selection Process: If the number of applicants exceeds available scholarships, recipients will be randomly selected. Families may wait to register for the class until they are notified about scholarship awards. The drawing for the scholarships will occur after the deadlines. Embark on epic adventures in the Dungeons & Dragons Club! Whether you’re brand new to tabletop role-playing games or a seasoned adventurer, this club is the perfect place to roll dice, tell stories, and use your imagination. Players will learn the basics of character creation, storytelling, and cooperative gameplay while exploring fantasy worlds together. Each session offers opportunities to develop creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills—all while having a great time. No prior experience or materials are required; just bring your curiosity and sense of adventure! Everything will be provided! This class is open to students in grades 6-8. Students that receive educational benefits are able to receive a $15.00 scholarship towards the cost of this class. Trapped negative emotions like fear, anger and sorrow can disrupt the flow of vital energy in our bodies and actually sabotage our inner peace. In this single evening course, you will learn simple yet effective techniques for getting in touch with, understanding, accepting and releasing the emotions that keep us from ourselves. Nobody wants to suffer. Come learn to rest in the peaceful state of loving acceptance that is our true nature.

If your mother tongue is not English, join a class for English learners in Cloquet community Education. Even if you are already learning English on internet, it is good to attend a regular class once a week. Your instructor holds a MN license for teaching English learners from all over the world and have done it for many years. In some languages she can even provide teaching support in your native language. The week day for our meetings is dependent on those who plan to attend. The first class will take place at the location and time listed.

In this class, you'll learn step-by-step techniques to make macaron shells. We'll also make salted caramel buttercream and chocolate glaze. While we cook, we will discuss different ideas and how to make your macarons beautiful. We have options for almond, nut, and tree nut allergy. There is no option for egg allergy.
