(Cabbage Patch sized doll is good) This course gives current and future babysitters (ages 11-16) the skills and confidence to care for infants, toddlers and school-age children. We will use videos, hands-on activities, and problem solving. Babysitter's Training teaches youth how to: Handle emergencies, accidents and illnesses with first aid & CPR Recognize safety and injury prevention Communicate with parents Supervise young children Feed, diaper and care for infants Remain safe as the sitter Scholarships are available to attend this class

Students will decorate a 4X6 wooden photo frame and have their photo taken to put in it. We'll offer the same class at the end of the year so students can see how much they've grown!

Bring your dog (6 months and older) to learn basic commands: come, sit, lay down, and stay. Learn how to walk your dog comfortably on a leash (no flexy leash/leads), and how to pay attention to you instead of other dogs or distractions. Participants must be adult or at least 12 years old (and anyone under 15 must have a parent present) . Orientation is first night of class 6-7pm NO DOGS FIRST NIGHT. Must have proof of current rabies vaccination and certificate must be brought to class the first night. All participants must sign a liability waiver. Children will not be allowed to use membership when not accompanied by the Childcare center. Exercise your memory and concentration while learning a new skill! This course is for the very beginning bridge player. Each lesson will begin with a short lecture, and then continue with playing hands related to the lecture. Learn vocabulary, suit bidding, responses to opening suit bidding, the finesse, no trump bidding, overcalls and take out doubles. We will study from an elementary bridge text by Shirley Silverman. Additional $6.00 material fee will be charged at start of class.

Beginning Finish will prepare and practice simple conversations in small groups. Some basic grammar will be explained. Instructor's mother tongue is Finnish (Karelian dialect). She took the Finnish course at the Petrozavodsk State University. We will discuss in Finnish the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased.This course will be combined with Finnish 1B an use "First Finnish Reader for Beginners" Enni Saarinen mor intensely and will incorporate the TPR story telling method into each class. This will expand your vocabulary and sentence structures necessary for communication. The course will start with the vocabulary and structures common for tourist purposes. Basic grammar structures will also be taught. They will enable the students to make correct simple sentences and allow us to read and discuss easy books. The instructor lived in Germany for seven years and has a lot of first-hand cultural experience and has two Masters in methods of teaching foreign languages.This course will be combined with German 1B and will continue working along the same guidelines that have been explained during the beginning course. We will use the Book Zeit für Grammatik that the instructor successfully used in Germany teaching Ukrainian refugees. Beginning Russian will be a beginning course based around the book “Beginner`s Russian” which was used to teach the language at the High School. Within the first semester we will all learn to read using the Cyrillic alphabet. It is not as tough as it looks. Some people start reading within hours. We will discuss in Russian the topics typical for beginners. Books do not need to be purchased. This course will be combined with Russian 1B and continue practicing reading drills in the cyrillic alphabet. The purpose is to achieve complete fluency in reading in Cyrillic by the end of the Russian 1B course. To expand the vocabulary and basic sentence structures the "Easy Russian Reader" will be used with emphasis on story telling. This introductory Spanish course will teach you basic grammar and vocabulary necessary for travel and everyday interactions in a country where Spanish is the most widely spoken foreign and heritage language. Students will learn to introduce themselves, talk about their families, occupations, and interests, and ask and answer common questions while shopping or traveling. We will also practice counting money in Spanish. For healthcare providers and other professionals working with Spanish-speaking patients, the course will also help improve practical medical Spanish communication. Participants will build confidence using common healthcare vocabulary and basic conversational skills to support patient interactions, enhance cultural understanding, and communicate more effectively in clinical settings. This course is designed to strengthen everyday communication and is not a substitute for professional medical interpreter services when required. Build your own sauna! One night class taught by a Finn who has been enjoying and building saunas all his life. Electric or wood-fired? Inside or outside the home? Building in town, at the lake, or the hunting shack? Primitive or modern? We will cover it all including materials, costs, building codes, and most importantly, safety. Plenty of time for questions and unique situations. Happiest people in the world have sauna regularly!

You and your dog both MUST have basic obedience to attend this class. BRING DOG FIRST NIGHT FOR THIS CLASS. This is training course for responsible owners, well-mannered dogs to be good neighbors, friends and a role model in your community. The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen program is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. In CGC, dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test can earn a certificate and/or the official AKC title. Testing for CGC is held on last night of class. Must have proof of current rabies vaccination and certificate must be brought to class the first night. All participants must sign a liability waiver. CDC guidelines will be followed, including distancing and maximum number of participants. Instructor Jennifer Jablonski is a trainer at Twin Ports Dog Training Club. We will need a minimum of 6 participants to hold the class.

Participants will practice three days a week starting August 4 and perform this fall at the home games for CHS Varsity Football. Students will be taught the elements of dance and cheer technique. They will perform cheers, sideline dance routines, and half-time performance routines. On the sidelines, they will promote positive school spirit and sportsmanship by interacting with the audience. The team will compete at the TUTC Spooktacular Competition in November. Previous dance experience is highly recommended. Mandatory parent/student meeting on Tuesday, August 11th from 6-7:30 in the CHS cafeteria.

The Cloquet High School Pep Squad team and coaches will teach the Cloquet School Song and several Lumberjack cheers to the JR Cheer Camp participants. Open to students entering Grades 1-4. A Pep Squad t-shirt and a pair of rooter poms are included in the fee. We will show off our skills to the community in the Labor Day Parade on September 7. Registration closes on August 14.
